Did you know how much of Britain's coast it's possible to walk by rail? Our regional coastal pages show hundreds of coastal walks served by railway stations. To celebrate 200 years of the railways, from May 7th to late July 2025 we will be walking the best-served stretches in every region and nation.
Founder member Steve Melia will be walking all 8 regional stretches - between 93 stations over 600 miles, as shown below. Many Railwalks supporters will be joining him at different points along the way.
Each day will start and finish at a railway station. Some days will pass more than one station, where they are close together, so a shorter option will be possible. If you would like to join any of the walks, take a look at the itinerary and (if you are on our mailing list) register your interest below.
