Starting at Ebbw Vale Town station we walk via Mynydd Carn-y-Cefn, Silent Valley and Festival Park to reach Ebbw Vale Parkway station.
Starting with a steady but not steep climb to reach the trig pillar on Mynydd Carn-y-Cefn. We walk around the ridge, with far-reaching views across the Ebbw Fawr and Ebbw Fach Valleys, where we should see Pen-y-Fan, Sugar Loaf and the Skirrid mountains and the Heads of the South Wales Valleys in the distance.
Next, we pass through Silent Valley, an ancient beech woodland sanctuary amidst the industrial past of the South Wales Valleys.
Our return to Ebbw Vale Parkway is through Festival Park. The park comprises of over 70 acres of parkland remaining from Garden Festival Wales. We will see some of the sculptures from the 1992 event.
The walk is 10 miles with approx. 1400ft ascent. There will be a couple of stiles. The paths are mainly good, some rocky.
