What will happen in a train is delayed or cancelled?
If a train is delayed we will wait. If it cancelled, we will get the next one. If all trains are halted for a longer period we may do a Plan B walk, directly from Cardiff Central, with an option of returning by train or bus.
What about bad weather?
We will not cancel a walk just because of rain. If there is a Met Office severe weather warning we may cancel a walk or walks. For people staying in Cardiff we may arrange an alternative, such as a visit to the Museum of Wales. Please check the programme on the website before setting out.
Can I join the walk without travelling to Cardiff Central?
Yes. You can join a walk at the starting station (if that is somewhere else). Note the time of the train we are planning to take from Cardiff Central, and what we have written above about delays or cancellations.
Are children and dogs allowed?
Children are allowed on the easy or moderate walks with a responsible adult. Dogs are only allowed on two of the walks marked 🐶 on the programme. See our policy on dogs.
If you have any more queries about the booking process, please email Charley on: railwalks.bookings@gmail.com.
We are doing all this for free, but if you can afford it, please donate £5 for each walk, or £20 for the whole festival to our bank account.
